Drivers

• Give 3 Feet: Leave at least three feet of space when passing an e-bike on the road
• Expect Speed: Remember that e-bikes travel faster than standard bicycles, especially when accelerating from a stop.
• Check Blind Spots: Look carefully for silent, fast-moving e-bikes before making right or left turns across bike lanes.
• Reduce Speed: Slow down when approaching and sharing the road with electric bike riders.

Parents:

• No distractions: Ban cell phones, texting, and noise-canceling headphones or earbuds while riding.
• Teach traffic laws: Treat the e-bike like a car – stop at red lights and stop signs, ride with traffic on the right, and use hand signals.
• No passengers: Discourage carrying friends on a single-rider e-device.

 Kids:

• No helmet, no ride: Standard bicycle helmets are only rated for lower speeds; use a certified high-speed or e-bike rated helmet.
• Obey the road: Stop at all stop signs and red lights, ride in bike lanes, go with the flow of traffic, stop for law enforcement.
• Stay unplugged: Never wear headphones, earbuds, or use a cell phone while riding.
• One person only: Do not carry friends or passengers on the back of the e-bike.
