Life in Savage is great!

Ninety-two percent of residents rate the overall quality of life in Savage as excellent or great! 

The most recent community survey results are in, and residents told us again that Savage is a great place to live! Not only is it a great place to live, it's a great place to retire and raise kids. And 9 out of 10 residents like their neighborhoods and feel safe. The City conducts a community survey every two years to gather feedback on what our residents are happy with, where we can improve, and what's important to them.

Key Findings 

•  Residents continue to enjoy a high quality of life in Savage, with nearly all participants positively rating Savage as a place to live. 
• The overall feeling of safety in Savage was rated excellent or good by 9 in 10 residents, a significant increase from 2022. 
• A strong majority of residents offered high marks to local government treating all residents fairly, treating all residents with respect, and informing residents about issues facing the community, all of which were higher than the national benchmark. 
• Contrasting national trends, availability of affordable quality housing and affordable quality mental health care remained stable with previous results, and were both rated higher than the national benchmark. 

Top Five Community Priorities
Each survey, residents are asked what is one thing the city can improve on. Here are the categories that residents rated essential or very important):

• Business and Economic Development/Downtown Redevelopment
• Mobility (walking, biking, traffic flow, snow removal) 
• Communications and civic engagement 
• Recreational opportunities and facilities 
• Public safety and law enforcement

About the Survey

Every two years, the City of Savage partners with the National Research Center/Polco to implement the community survey. It is a probability-based survey that ensures that every resident has an equal chance of being selected. In 2024, surveys were sent to 3,000 random households in Savage, and the city received 728 responses. The research firm used those responses to get a statistically valid sample for our community's results.
