This program is intended to facilitate the removal of trees that have the potential to cause property damage (ex: trees that may fall and damage structures, impact roads or trails, or other potentially occupied spaces). Trees that are within wooded areas that do not have property damage or public safety impact potential will not be eligible for this program. Stump grinding is not an eligible expense for this program, but residents can pay for stump grinding separately.

Step 2 – Submit your application. Once eligibility is confirmed, submit the following:
- This completed application form
- A basic site plan
- A quote from a registered tree contractor (find the list here) The City-paid portion of the work is tax exempt and must not include stump removal.
Note: Program eligibility requires being up to date on property taxes.
Step 3 – Wait for confirmation. You’ll receive an email confirming your application was received and is going to City Council for approval. A second email will follow once they Council approves the work.
Step 4 – Get the work done. Once you receive Council approval and a Completion Form via email, you can schedule and complete the tree removal.
Step 5 – Submit your completion forms and invoice. When the work is finished, complete the Private Tree Relief Completion Form (form will be sent with your application confirmation email) and submit it along with your contractor’s invoice. The program covers up to $2,500. The City-paid portion of the work is tax exempt. Any remaining costs over $2,500, and any stump removal costs, are your responsibility to pay directly to the contractor.
Step 6 – Funds are applied to your property taxes. The assistance amount will be assessed to your property taxes as described below.
