Last night’s City Council meeting had a VERY special guest running the show! 

Meet Valentine Wagoner, Savage's 2026 Mayor for a Day. Valentine earned her mayoral moment by participating in the League of Minnesota Cities’ 2025 Mayor for a Day Essay Contest- and she rocked it! She helped lead the meeting, read her heartfelt essay, and even received a proclamation officially marking August 17, 2026 as Valentine Wagoner Day in Savage.

"When I was at the fire department for the pancake breakfast the fire fighters wanted a fire pole. If I were mayor for a day, firefighters would get a sliding pole. I think it would be cool if they had one. They could get to fires fast. It would be fun for the firefighters when they slide down. If there was a fire in the building they would have two ways to get down.

I would also have another room added on to the firehouse to have more storage for their stuff. Maybe, since they have a dog, they could have an extra room for him so he could have a bed and an area of play toys for him.

The firefighters should get more weight training in carrying heavy things so if there was a fire somewhere they would be stronger. The training could be an exercise room with weights, pull-up bars, foam roller, and massages whenever they wanted."
