FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAVAGE, MN - January 16, 2026 - On January 16, 2026, at approximately 12:01 p.m., Savage Police officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Hamilton Ridge Elementary School. The caller reported an adult male wearing dark clothing who may have been carrying what appeared to be a paintball gun or rifle.

Out of an abundance of caution, Hamilton Ridge Elementary and Prior Lake High School were placed in lockdown while officers established a perimeter and conducted a thorough search of the area. With assistance from the Prior Lake Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office drone team, the area was canvassed and no individual matching the description was located.

Once officers confirmed there was no active threat, Hamilton Ridge Elementary transitioned to normal operations with an exterior-only lockdown. The scene was fully cleared at approximately 1:05 p.m.
