Savage Police respond to weapon incident at River Bend Park.

Savage, Minnesota- May 12, 2025 – The Savage Police Department responded to an incident at River Bend Park yesterday evening after receiving reports of an individual displaying a firearm. A vigilant community member contacted emergency services and honked their vehicle horn, potentially preventing a more serious incident.

According to authorities, on Sunday, May 11, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to River Bend Park following reports of a person displaying a weapon. No shots were fired during the incident, and no injuries have been reported.

"This is an active investigation, and our department is diligently following up on all leads," said Savage Police Chief Brady Juell. "The safety of our community is our highest priority."

In response to the incident, the Savage Police Department is implementing enhanced security measures, including:

  1. Increased patrol presence in and around River Bend Park.
  2. Deployment of Scott County's mobile surveillance trailer equipped with flashing lights and surveillance cameras.

"The mobile surveillance trailer is already in place and provides us with an additional security measure that combines 24/7 monitoring capabilities with a visible deterrent," Chief Juell explained. "This technology allows us to maintain vigilance in the area while reassuring community members that their safety remains our focus."
